Heating chocolate syrup as opposed to melting chocolate chips in a recipe?

Heating chocolate syrup as opposed to melting chocolate chips in a recipe?

Q : A recipe I'm hoping to use calls for melted chocolate chips. I can't go out and buy any right now. Would I be able to use chocolate syrup from Hershey's instead?
I see. Ah well, I'm stuck. Thanks though.
A : I am betting not
. They are different as the syrup is already runny and does not set up so that is 1 difference. Also, most chocolate chips are semi sweet and the syrup is sweeter than that so you have another difference.

When making Chocolate Mocha Cheesecake is the chocolate "chips" or baking chocolate?

Q : The recipe simply says 8 oz chocolate, semi-sweet. It seems like I should use the chocolate chips but not sure. I've seen other recipes that call for the squares. Are the squares all "baking" chocolate? What is the difference between baking squares and chocolate chips?
Ok - it's a little confusing for me, but I think I have it figured out....Baking Chocolate come in semi-sweet (sweetened) and Unsweetened (which would be the bitter sweet). So I could use whatever - bars or chocolate chips - as long as it's sweetened. Thanks for you help! I'm going to use the Semi-Sweet bars.
A : Baking chocolate comes in 1oz squares. As long as your chips are semi-sweet and you use the same amount, it will work fine. I've done it. But it would be advisable to weigh the chips.

Recipe for chocolate to use in a chocolate fountain?

Q : I have some recipes, but they all include using Crisco, which makes it taste greasy. Anyone tried any other recipes that taste like quality chocolate, but still flow nicely?
Thanks!
A : Use almond bark. It is usually pretty cheap. Chocolate is hard to make since you have to grind up the sugar particals and if you get any water in it you will have fudge.

Can melted chocolate harden overnight?

Q : I'm baking these cupcakes for my church staff for Easter. They have chocolate eggs on top (you wash those plastic Easter egg hunt eggs, then coat the inside with melted chocolate and let the chocolate harden, and finally pop them out to create an egg) and I was wondering if it would be okay to do them tonight and let them harden overnight. I was planning on putting them in the refrigerator overnight and prepare everything else the next morning, so this way I have time to decorate the cupcakes. But my real question was, do you think they would crack if they or too cold, or if they're in room temperature the next day that they'd melt? Thanks!
A : I dont think so.
